For me, I look at both options and compare final prices to see which is better. Most of the time, online is better as you can compare more items, 24/7 and don't have to leave your room, (plus no taxes, in most states). However there are instances where brick & mortar stores can outprice internet prices (such as liquidation or sales). I am building a budget gaming system for a friend and settled on Q9300 CPU. It is an older chip that most sites sell for $200, even ebay has a buynow price for $150. However, at a local microcenter, it was going for $99. Point of the story? Shop around and decide for yourself. Its all personal preference. For me, I look at both options and compare final prices to see which is better.
